Old Faithful Fremantle finds itself in the basement of 1 Pakenham St Fremantle, the building itself constructed in 1897 during the gold rush boom for Tolley & Company, a wine and liquor merchant. We are embracing the historic basement vibe and reviving the traditional use of the basement booze store, with a moody vibe and a modern 32 tap system.
With our kitchen located in the back courtyard, take a stroll down Distribution Lane to collect your order. Yes that’s right, our laneway was known as Distribution Lane back in the day when the kegs used to roll in to the basement stores of Tolley & Co.
Fitted out with a 32 tap cool room, you will be hard pressed to find a bigger selection elsewhere in town. With a focus on local craft beers, cider and seasonal surprises, rest assured you will find some Aussie classic regulars on the list too. Cocktails just got damn easy to order too, with signatures ready to pour by the glass – or the jug if you fancy sharing – as is the Old Faithful way.
Just like our food, we like our beer to be fresh, handcrafted and local. Our rotating 32 tap selection is chosen by our owner and staff, and we only sell what we love. Look out for collaborations with our brewer friends and limited releases. We offer a tasting selection to sample from the menu, and sizes to satisfy any thirst.
We have a curated selection of whiskeys from around the globe, a highlight for many of our customer connoisseurs. From heavily peated Scottish single malts to special edition American bourbons, leave the sourcing to us. Takeaway service available at our Fremantle location to choose from a hand-picked selection of classic, rare and hard to find whiskeys by the bottle.
Fancy a cocktail? We know how to take an old classic, spin it around and around, and serve it up on the bar the Old Faithful way. Not on the menu? Our bartenders know a thing or two and are on the ready to offer suggestions. Cocktails not your ‘thang? Ask one of our bartenders to suggest a trusty old Boilermaker to get your night started – or finished!
Our menu has been tried and tested, and we like to keep it that way. Our meats go on a long journey before they are plated up for you to drool over. Firstly, we make a brine that the meats are soaked in for up to 40 hours to ensure they are moist and full of flavour. Then they are treated to a good ‘ol rub down with our house made spice blends, inspired by flavours of the south. Next up, they are lovingly layed out in the smoker and left for hours on end to cook low n slow, cherry or hickory wood chips smouldering.
You may think it is now ready for the plate, but don’t forget some of our meats are yet to be slathered in house made sauces and thrown on the grill – now that should really get your juices flowing!
Don’t ask because we won’t tell. Our spice blends are Old Faithful secrets, heck we even smoke our own paprika! From our Texas rubbed brisket to our South Carolina style pulled pork, our house rubs will get your taste buds doing a good old fashioned square dance before the night is over.
Sauce is a subject we don’t take lightly. We challenge you to pick a favourite from our mouth-watering selection, all handmade in the Old Faithful kitchen. Keep an eye out in the future for take-home options to get your sauce on anytime, anywhere.
